Transducers and transmitters for potentially explosive atmosphere

We offer a broad range of robust, ATEX/IECEx certified transducers and transmitters – including the DuoTech accelerometer and Airius wireless vibration sensor – to ensure safe data acquisition in potentially hazardous locations.

DuoTech Ex accelerometers

The DuoTech® (Dual Technology) accelerometer for potentially explosive atmosphere is a single transducer solution used for vibration or shock pulse measurement or a combination of the two. It provides maximum flexibility to select the best measuring technique for a given type of problem or application. DuoTech is an individually tuned piezo-electric accelerometer delivering excellent performance in a very large area of applications.

The accelerometer is internally isolated in a Faraday shield providing maximum protection from ground loops and RF interference. It is IEPE compatible and connects to standard vibration inputs via an Ex interface, twisted pair cable and MIL type connector. This facilitates easy integration into existing equipment and makes the accelerometer an excellent and cost-efficient choice for retrofit projects. Stainless acid proof steel housings and hermetic sealing make it suitable for rough environments.

The transducer is connected to a suitable certified measuring instrument or a suitable certified interface.

Airius Ex

The Airius wireless vibration sensor for potentially explosive environments is ideal for monitoring standard production equipment such as pumps and fans. Measuring triaxial vibration and temperature, this battery-powered MEMS type sensor with digital output performs a user-defined number of vibration measurements per day in the 10-1000 Hz or the 2-1000/10-5000 Hz frequency range.

Airius Ex is compatible with both Condmaster.NET, the browser-based application providing easy access to measurement data through a user-friendly interface, and the analysis and diagnostic software Condmaster Ruby.

The SPM Connect app, downloadable for mobile devices, is used to configure the parameters required to connect to Condmaster Entity Server (CES) or SPM Cloud. Only certified mobile devices are allowed in Ex-hazardous areas.

Shock pulse transducers

The 44 000 family of transducers for potentially explosive atmospheres is approved for use in mining and other areas with explosive gases or dust.

The transducer is connected to a suitably certified SPM measuring system for bearing condition monitoring. Devices placed outside hazardous areas must be connected to the transducer via a suitable and certified SPM interface.

The 42 000 family of shock pulse transducers for explosive atmospheres must be used with SPM coupling transformers, providing galvanic isolation, and a diode safety barrier between the transducer and the measuring equipment. The transformer itself should be installed in a safe (or outside hazardous) area.

Vibration transducers

The SOLID transducers are piezo-electric accelerometers of compression type, each individually tuned. Enhanced electronics and ambient characteristics deliver excellent performance in a very large area of applications.

The SOLID transducers are designed to withstand the rigors of industrial environments. Stainless, acid-proof steel housings, case isolation, and hermetic sealing make them very robust.

The transducer is connected to a suitable certified measuring system or a suitable certified interface.

Transmitters

The transmitters feature unique microcontroller design and calibration data stored in the sensor. The measuring range is 0-25 mm/s and the frequency range 2-1000 Hz.

The SOLID transmitters all come with a top connector for fast and easy installation. A special SOLID transducer with a side connector is also available for use in rough industrial environments where moisture and water may cause equipment problems.

The transmitter is connected to a suitable certified measuring system or a suitable certified interface.
